What we offer

The UK Recruitment and Outreach team offers a huge range of free events, programmes and activities for students to give them all the information they need about higher education and to enhance their subject knowledge and experience.

SUBJECT-SPECIFIC SESSIONS

Discover our subject–specific activities including curriculum-related master classes and degree experience taster days.

Teachers and advisors day

This yearly conference aims to provide teachers and advisors with general information about higher education and provide updates on changes to the application process or financial situation for your students. It offers greater insight into what Reading in particular can offer and where our courses might lead your students.

Sign up to our mailing list to hear about our next event and to get access to our bank of downloadable resources.

Information, advice and guidance sessions

We are happy to deliver information, advice and guidance sessions in person or virtually at your school or college. Check out our upcoming virtual events including webinars covering all aspects of choosing and applying to university. If you would like a bespoke session delivered for your school or college, please get in touch.

Students in schools

Our Students in Schools scheme has been established for over 20 years and continues to go from strength to strength. The scheme enables students to volunteer to help teachers in local schools with the aim of raising awareness of higher education, the aspirations of school pupils and their attainment.

To find out more about the scheme visit our website.

Post-16 school/college groups

We offer bespoke campus visits for post-16 school and college groups throughout the year.

These visits are an excellent opportunity for students to experience a university campus and learn more about the process of applying to a university.

We can tailor the day or half-day to the needs of your students. As part of a typical campus visit, we offer campus tours, student life talks from our student ambassadors, and activities relating to university topics such as choosing a course, personal statements, and student finance.

This is also a great opportunity for students to experience our beautiful, green campus and the benefits of Partnering for the Planet to implement sustainability and green investments into our everyday lives.

Please contact us to arrange a visit.

Study higher

Study Higher is a collaborative partnership between the University of Reading, University of Oxford, Bucks New University, Oxford Brookes University and six Further Education Colleges. We give impartial advice and guidance to young people in years 9 - 13, and those who support them about education opportunities.

Together we provide:

  • a range of events and activities to raise the aspirations of young people and inform them about further and higher education opportunities
  • advice and guidance for schools, teachers, parents and carers to help support young people in making informed decisions
  • a dedicated Study Higher newsletter listing all outreach events and activities available locally.

You can find out more and sign-up to the newsletter on the Study Higher website. Contact info@studyhigher.ac.uk for more information.

The Reading Scholars Programme

The Reading Scholars Programme gives Year 12 students a real taste of life as a university undergraduate, providing practical support as participants begin their higher education application process. Featuring input from leading academics and current undergraduate e-mentors, the programme aims to challenge participants academically and enhance their current studies.

Visit our Reading Scholars’ page for more information, including the full eligibility criteria.

Open Days

As well as welcoming individuals to our Open Days, school groups are also invited to join us.

Open Days give students the opportunity to explore our beautiful campus, talk to current students and staff about our courses, and visit our support services and facilities, including our student accommodation.

Please get in touch if you are interested in bringing a school or college group to one of our Open Days.
