Our master’s teaching at the University of Reading is delivered with friendliness and expertise. You will be taught in small groups, with lecturers and professors leading discussion and giving lectures. There are two teaching semesters, and assessment is by essays and a dissertation written over the summer. You will be given an expert supervisor for your dissertation who will meet with you for a number of one-to-one advice sessions.
We offer a taught master’s programme, which also provides appropriate research training for those going on to PhDs as well as those with an interest in the heritage sector. As part of this, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with our world-renowned archives and special collections.

The MA was a really valuable and rewarding part of my academic development. In addition to extending my encounters with a range of materials, topics, and approaches within the sphere of literature and theory, it provided a platform for students continuing on from Reading undergraduate study or arriving at the University from other institutions to develop strong working relationships with members of staff within the 英国文学 department, and in the wider University community.
