Professor Adrian Bell is the Associate Pro Vice Chancellor for Research (Prosperity and Resilience). The Prosperity and Resilience research theme has 11 research divisions, including the cross-school Global Development research division, and 180 researchers working on collaborative projects such as the behavioural and experimental social science (BESS) lab and engaging with community research.
Adrian holds his Chair in the History of Finance at the ICMA Centre, Henley Business School and was previously Associate Dean (International) and Head of ICMA Centre. He specialises in the history of finance and has worked on funded research projects continuously since 2004, funded by ESRC, the Leverhulme Trust and the AHRC for his current project, 'The people of 1381’ (1381.online).
He has varied research interests and has published on medieval finance, economic history, the Hundred Years War, football finance, and the National Student Survey and student satisfaction. Adrian has worked at the University of Reading since 1994.
